WFS Service — The identification of significant flood risk territories (TRIs) is based on the results of the preliminary flood risk assessment (EPRI), carried out at the scale of each river basin district. It also relies on the national criteria for characterising the importance of flood risk, as defined in the Ministerial Order of 27 April 2012, and takes into account, where appropriate, local specificities, such as the dangerous nature of flooding and any other local factors that may exacerbate the potential negative consequences associated with flooding on human health, the environment, assets including cultural heritage and economic activity. The list of IRRs adopted by the competent authority on this scale, the prefect coordinator of the basin.
With a high urban population density, IRRs receive special attention from public authorities to reduce the cost of flood damage.
To this end, the 31 TRIs identified in 2012 and confirmed in 2018 in the Rhône-Mediterranean district are subject to:
— a risk mapping for flood phenomena characterising the territory;
— local flood risk management strategies at the level of the watersheds concerned.
