The results of the presidential elections are available by constituency from 1965 to 2012. The first rounds of the elections from 1981 to 2002 and the second round of the 1988 election are available per commune for municipalities with more than 9,000 inhabitants. From 2002 onwards, the results for the DOM-TOMs are included in the files.
Until the 2002 election, the results were obtained from the Sociopolitical Data Bank (BDSP) in Grenoble, whose sociopolitical data centre ([CDSP](http://cdsp.sciences-po.fr/)) of Sciences Po took over in 2005. From 2007 onwards, the results come from the Ministry of the Interior.
The CDSP carried out checks on the files, mainly by means of consistency tests (e.g. comparison of the number of expressed and the sum of votes for each party/candidate), but errors may persist.
