Priority AAFC Adour Garonne

91 catchments have been identified as priority in Adour Garonne and on which procedures must be carried out to regain water quality. In order to best define and target the actions to be implemented, the first essential step is the delimitation of the catchment feeding area and the mapping of intrinsic vulnerability. The supply area of a drinking water catchment (surface water intake or groundwater capture) corresponds to all surfaces where any drop of water dropped to the ground is likely to reach the point of capture, whether by infiltration or runoff. Intrinsic vulnerability is a notion of the rate of propagation of pollution to and from an aquatic environment. It characterises the greater or lesser “defense” of the environment against pollution. Unlike the specific vulnerability, it is independent of the pollutant.
