Pseudo-cantons of the North — Pas-de-Calais

Administrative organisation of the territory. Unlike the canton, the “Canton-ou-ville” (or pseudo-canton) is a grouping of one or more entire municipalities. In urban agglomerations, each canton usually includes part of the main municipality and possibly one or more peripheral municipalities. In this case, INSEE considers the main municipality, whole, as a unique and distinct pseudo-canton. For the peripheral commune(s), the pseudo-canton considered is then identical to the true amputated canton of the fraction of the main municipality that the real canton includes. Source: INSEE
