Scope of public institutions of inter-municipal cooperation (own taxation or other)
Public institutions for inter-municipal cooperation (EPCI) are groupings of municipalities whose object is to draw up “joint development projects within solidarity perimeters”. They are subject to common, homogeneous and comparable rules to those of local authorities.
The information presented here concerns own taxation EPCIs:
Urban Community (CU);
Community d' Agglomeration (CA);
Community of Communes (CC);
Syndicate d' New Agglomeration (SAN);
Metropolis (ME).
There are also EPCIs without own taxation: single Vocation Intercommunal Unions (SIVU), Multiple Vocation Intercommunal Unions (SIVOM), Closed Mixed Unions (SM Closed) and Open Mixed Unions (SM Open).
