Un bassin DCE correspond: - soit à un district hydrographique national (exemple: Les cours d'eau de la Corse) - soit à une portion d'un district hydrographique international située sur le territoire d'un Etat membre (exemples: la Meuse; la Sambre) Chaque bassin DCE dispose d'une autorité compétente coordinatrice qui est l'instance responsable de la mise en oeuvre de la DCE au sein du bassin DCE.
