Regional Natural Parks

Regional natural parks are territories with remarkable and recognised natural, landscape and heritage qualities. Their main tasks are: * protect and manage natural heritage, built and landscaped, * contribute to the planning and economic and socio-cultural development of the territory, * ensure the reception, education and information of the public. The actions carried out are part of a desire for the sustainable development of these territories. France has 51 regional natural parks; these represent about 15 % of the national territory and comprise 4386 communes. This layer of information presents the PNR of the whole of France. The OCCITAN Region has 6 existing NRPs: * PNR of the Pyrenees Ariégeoises, * PNR of the Catalan Pyrenees, * PNR of Haut-Languedoc, * PNR of Narbonnaise in the Mediterranean, * PNR of the Grands Causses, * PNR of the Quercy Causses and 3 planned NRPs * PNR Aubrac, * PNR Corbières-Fenouillèdes and * PNR Comminges.
