As part of the implementation of the green and blue frame on its territory, the Luberon Regional Natural Park wishes to better know and preserve the specific biodiversity of forest environments. The most ecologically remarkable forests, true “biodiversity reservoirs”, can be distinguished according to different criteria: * their diversity in terms of forest species, habitats and heritage species; * their naturality, characterised by the maturity of the forest, the presence of large trees and dead and senescent woods, by the structure and biomass of stands, by the natural character of the forest dynamics; * the age of their wooded state. Many studies have shown the importance of the absence of use impacting forest soils on the presence of many species (plants, insects, fungi, etc.) characteristic of forest soils and habitats and which are less common in land that has experienced agricultural use, even old or human footprint in terms of logging and frequentation. The Sainte-Baume Regional Natural Park is in the process of inventory.
