Dataset description
This dataset is one of the data-visualisation sources available on [Data pathologies](https://data.ameli.fr/pages/data-pathologies/).
### General information:
The data provide information on the expenses reimbursed by all health insurance schemes and allocated to each condition, chronic treatment or episode of care. This expenditure is divided into:
* city care (including medical care, nursing or physiotherapy, medicine, biology, transportation, etc.);
* hospitalisations in public or private health facilities;
* cash benefits (including daily allowances).
Pathologies, chronic treatments and episodes of care are grouped into the following categories:
* cardio-neurovascular diseases;
* vascular risk treatments (excluding cardiovascular diseases);
* diabetes;
* cancers;
* psychiatric pathologies;
* psychotropic treatments (excluding psychiatric pathologies);
* neurological and degenerative diseases;
* chronic respiratory diseases;
* inflammatory or rare diseases or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or AIDS;
* end-stage chronic renal failure (IRCT);
* liver or pancreatic diseases;
* other long-term conditions (ALD of which 31 and 32);
* stays in full hospitalisation to take care of Covid-19 (from 2020);
* maternity;
* chronic treatments with antalgic, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and corticosteroids;
* one-off hospital stays.
The expenses reimbursed for persons who do not present any of the conditions, chronic treatments or episodes of care mentioned above are also presented, as well as those attributed to the current consumption of care for the entire population of the mapping of pathologies and expenditure of the Sickness Insurance.
The proposed expenditure is of different types:
* total annual expenses reimbursed (per year);
* average annual expenses reimbursed (per year and per patient).
Patient numbers are also presented in the data. The reference population is that of the mapping of diseases and expenditure of the Sickness Insurance.
### What is the population of the Mapping of Diseases and Expenditures of Sickness Insurance?
The population of the mapping lists all beneficiaries of compulsory health insurance, regardless of their membership scheme:
* who has received at least one benefit within the year (physician care, nursing or physiotherapy, medicine, biology, transport, etc.);
* and/or have stayed at least once in a public or private health institution within the year (medical stays, surgery, obstetrics, psychiatry, follow-up and rehabilitation care, out-patient or home hospitalisation).
In 2020, it brought together 66.3 million beneficiaries of all health insurance schemes, having used reimbursed care. This population is used by the Caisse nationale de l’assurance Maladie (Cnam) to carry out numerous studies and produce data on the diseases and expenditure of the Sickness Insurance.
For more information, see [Method](https://observatoirepathologies-cnam.opendatasoft.com/pages/methode/) of this site.
### Statistical secret:
Out of respect for statistical confidentiality (Law of 7 June 1951) and in order to make it impossible to identify individuals directly or indirectly, no information on the number of patients in care is provided when the number of patients in care is less than 11. The value of the indicator is then indicated by the variable “NS” (not significant) in the dataset and set to “No significant” in the graphical representations.
### Update of data:
The data proposed for download in the “Export” tab is updated each year (data from France as a whole from 2015 to 2020).
