Renewable and low-carbon gas production projects by pyrogaseification for injection into gas networks

This dataset provides in Open Data the location of more than a dozen commercial projects and demonstrators of biogas production via pyrogasification. The information displayed is fully public and the details are available on the ATE website: <https://atee.fr/energies-renouvelables/club-pyrogazeification>(https://atee.fr/energies-renouvelables/club-pyrogazeification) \— Pyrogasification is an innovative process for the production of injection gas in existing networks. This process transforms low- or poorly recovered solid residues (used wood, plastics not recycled, solid reclaimed fuels, etc.) into gases, heating them at high temperatures (between 800 and 1 500°), with little (or no) oxygen. Pyrogasification for injection has now reached a stage of technological maturity allowing the construction of the first industrial plants in France from 2023 to be considered. By 2030, the forecast balance of network operators based on the ambitions set out in the regional plans (SRADDET3 and specific studies) shows that pyrogasification could represent 6 TWh of injected gas per year corresponding to up to 1 million tonnes of CO2 avoided. This future technology will thus contribute to achieving a 100 % renewable or low-carbon gas consumption in France by 2050.
