Community Regulation (EC) No 1593/2000 established an obligation in all Member States to locate and identify agricultural parcels.
In order to meet this requirement, France has set up the Graphical Parcellar Register (GPR), which is a geographical information system allowing the identification of agricultural parcels. Each year, farmers send the administration an area declaration file which includes, inter alia, the drawing of the islets of cultivation they use and the crops grown there.
The islets are located on a 1:5000 scale on the photographic background of the Ortho CD (IGN) and are updated annually. This database is therefore a large-scale and regularly updated description of the majority of agricultural land.
The available data are the contours of the “anonymised” islets of the GPR and their cultural occupation represented by the majority crop group of the islet.
The data have been cleaned:
\- Addition of crop types according to codes (Merge of tables)
\- Add common columns, postal code, Insee code according to plots (space analysis under QGIS)
\- A zoom on the Basque country has been realised
