A regional natural park is one of the protected natural areas (ENPs) that are designated or managed within an international, community, national or local framework with a view to achieving specific natural heritage conservation objectives. The aim of regional natural parks is to enhance vast areas of great cultural and natural interest, and to ensure the sustainable development of these territories whose rural character is often very assertive. They are created as a result of the desire of the local authorities (communities, communities of municipalities, departments, regions) to implement a territorial project that translates into the drafting of a charter. A park is labelled for a maximum of 12 years by the State, and can be renewed. It is classified in category V of IUCN (protected landscapes). A regional natural park can cover several regions and s' extend to sea.
