State Budget 2020 (Results and Management)

The Court of Auditors makes public its report on the State Budget in 2020, together with 65 analyses of budget implementation. The year 2020 was marked by the health crisis and massive state interventions to address it, which resulted in the adoption of four amending finance laws. In implementation, the deficit increased considerably (+ EUR 85 billion) compared to 2019, reaching EUR 178 billion in 2020. As a result, government debt has increased very strongly (+ EUR 178 billion) to EUR 2 001 billion. Beyond the general budget, the Court examined all the financial resources allocated by the State to public policies and found insufficient monitoring and steering.
