This table contains the annual average sulphur dioxide pollution levels recorded at measuring stations in the Nantes agglomeration since 2005.
SULPHUR DIOXIDE
Origins: sulphur dioxide usually comes from the combination of the sulphur impurities of fossil fuels with oxygen from the air, when they are burned. Oil refining processes also release sulphur products.
Temporal evolutions: the use of heaters in winter increases sulphur dioxide concentrations.
Geographical distribution: the subwind areas of the emittering industrial establishments are the most affected by sulphur dioxide.
‘Font color=“red”’ Warning: there is no SO2 analyser on the Nantes agglomeration since the end of 2010. The data provided therefore stop at that date.‘/FONT’
