Urban contract for social cohesion

Urban social cohesion contracts succeeded city contracts in 2007 as part of the developed territory project for the benefit of neighbourhoods in difficulty. The CUCS is a contract between the State and local and regional authorities that commits each of the partners to implement concerted actions to improve the daily lives of residents in neighbourhoods experiencing difficulties (unemployment, violence, housing...). It is prepared at the joint initiative of the mayor or the president of EPCI, and the prefect of department. The general framework and guidelines were defined by the Interministerial Committee at the City (CIV) of 9 March 2006. The contract is signed for a period of three years, renewable once, by the prefect of department and by the mayor and/or the president of the EPCI, in consultation with the regional prefect. Regional and general councils are, at their request, involved in contracting. Depending on local issues, privileged partners are requested: deposit and deposit fund, family allowance funds, social donors, rectorates... The data only contain urban social cohesion contracts that have been signed. The old CUCS (i.e. those that are finished) are to be archived.
