Regional wind scheme of Brittany approved on 28/09/2012 by the Prefect of the Brittany region
Article 90 of the Grenelle 2 Act introduced the obligation to develop in each region a wind regional scheme (SRE) defining the parts of the territory favourable to the development of wind energy. This regional wind scheme is part of the regional climate, air and energy scheme (SRCAE).
The development of the SRE results from a survey and mapping of the various environmental and technical issues to define the areas favourable for the development of wind power. Given the characteristics of the regional territory and in order to take account of the diversity of situations encountered in Brittany, it is considered that the whole region is intended to constitute a favourable zone for the development of wind power, with the exception of areas subject to major restrictions at regional level.
__Origin__
The map of wind-friendly areas in Brittany presented below is provided for informational purposes, on a regional scale. The precision expected in the definition studies of wind projects must be accompanied by consultation with all servitude managers, public actors, communities and residents. A more detailed knowledge of environmental, social and urban issues at the level of the study area will refine the perimeter of favourable areas locally.
The map identifies all of the regional wind-friendly areas and the following wind exclusion zones in Breton territory: the extended protection perimeter of Mont Saint-Michel, UNESCO site and the sectors impacted by certain military radar and aeronautical servitudes and civil aviation as well as hydrometeorological radars.
The map of zones favourable to wind was carried out by excluding from the regional layer areas where the implantation of wind turbines is not possible.
