A hydrographic node is a change in water flow. It is always located at the end of an elementary hydrographic section.
The hydrographic nodes class managed by the IGN includes:
— confluences, diffluences, sources, mouth and losses of rivers;
— dams;
— dams along water;
— locks (for passage or radoub);
— sources and cascades of tourism interest.
A hydrographic node is located by a geometric summit. Some nodes correspond to an outlet of a hydrographic area.
