The digital landscape model describes the topographical objects of the landscape and the relief of the earth’s surface in vector format. The objects are assigned to a specific object type and defined by their spatial location, geometric type, descriptive attributes and relationships with other objects (relations). Each object has a unique identification number throughout Germany (identifier). For the base DLM, the spatial location is indicated independently of scale and mapping in the coordinate system of the country survey. Which object types the DLM contains and how the objects are to be formed is defined in the ATKIS object type catalog (ATKIS-OK online). The scope of information of the basic DLM is based on the content of the topographic map 1:25,000, but it has a higher location accuracy (requested ± 3 m) for the most important point- and line-shaped objects. The object types and attributes are recorded in three successive realisation stages, which are indicated in the ATKIS-OK. The ATKIS Basic DLM is available in the download center of the HVBG (www.gds.hessen.de) in the form of WFS services and data records.
