Dataset description

The Oligocene comprises the levels of Rupel and Chatt, each marking the beginning of a transgression phase. The distribution limits of the base area of the Oligocene run along the high-altitude areas above salt structures, reflecting the influence of the hanging middle-miocene discordance. The largest depth is reached in the central section west of the Lollo/Lisa salt wall. High altitudes occur mainly at the distribution boundaries along the main salt structures.
