Bathing waters in Saarland Bathing waters are lakes used for public bathing and swimming. The minimum requirements for the quality of bathing waters and their management are defined by Directive 2006/7/EC (Bathwater Directive) for the Member States of the European Union. The European Bathing Water Directive was transposed into national law in 2008 by the bathing water regulation in Saarland. Currently, the Bostalsee, the Losheim reservoir and a bathing site at Nied in Saarland are designated as bathing waters.
