Dataset description

The spatial data set contains the scope of the “Black Forest” biosphere area, divided into a core zone, a care zone and a development zone. The district of Freiburg is covered by the biosphere area of approximately 14 % of the urban area, with about 65 % being accounted for by the Kappel area and about 35 % by the Freiburg area. Of the 14 % of the affected Freiburg urban area, about 85 % are located in the development zone and about 15 % in the care zone of the protected area. The Black Forest biosphere area was officially established by the Ministry of Rural Areas and Consumer Protection (MLR) Baden-Württemberg as of February 2016.
