Biotope and Usage Types with OBK

The nationwide biotope and usage type mapping was created by interpretation of Colorinfrared (CIR) aerial images from 1993 and 1994, supplemented in 1995. The mapping is fully available in digital form. The mapping provides a differentiated overview of land use (e.g. vegetation, Settlement areas) at the time of flight. Since December 2004, the results of Biotope and usage type mapping part of FIS nature conservation (LINFOS). Additional information on Forest areas are not differentiated; the mapping in the open country (OBK base crossing) is further differentiated and updated by the subsequent openland biotope mapping, limiting the open land biotope mapping however, the suspected areas for protected biotopes, i.e. there is a comprehensive overview for Thuringia in a mosaic of CIR biotope and utilisation types from 1993/1994 and the OBK areas attached therein from 1996-2012. The OBK is part of this dataset.
