Dataset description

The Duisburg City Archive has more than 50,000 historical photos. The earliest photos date from the period of the First World War. The collection continues continuously into the present. The photos from the collection of the city archive come from various photographers, many also from the city’s press office, some of them privately owned. Apart from a few photographic estates that form their own holdings in the archive, most of the photos belong to a collection that is organised and developed by topics (locations, people, subjects).
