Compensatory allowance

Promotion of farms in disadvantaged and specific areas (compensation allowance) The compensatory allowance for farms in less-favoured areas is part of the rural development programme (RDP) Thuringia 2014-2020. It shall be granted in the form of aid per hectare for agricultural land in less-favoured and specific areas. Payments of the compensatory allowance shall compensate farmers for additional income foregone as a result of disadvantages to agricultural production in the areas concerned. The objectives are the continuation of employment, the maintenance of agricultural land use and the maintenance of traditional farming practices and thus the overall crop landscape, with positive impacts on biodiversity. The specific structure of the compensatory allowance supports in particular grassland and fodder-based farming systems and thus the associated livestock farming. In specific areas, support will be given to the continuation of the management of marginal grassland areas, often difficult to manage, in the arable areas; this serves to preserve them. Less-favoured areas or specific areas are those defined in accordance with Article 32 of Regulation (EU) No 1305/2013. The areas concerned are part of the spatial data and are published as a list on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture in Thuringia.
