This data set contains the amounts of cycling that are included in the campaign “Stadtradeln & quot”; the Klima-Bündnis e.V. was recorded in a 3-week period by users of the Stadtradeln-App in the city area of Hamburg from 2018 to 2020.
The dataset is an extract of a Germany-wide dataset.
This data set was prepared in the course of the research project MOVEBIS at TU Dresden. This is a mFUND project of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure. The data are licensed under CC-BY-NC, i.e. they may not be reused for commercial purposes and the author must be named. The author is as follows: Grubitzsch P., Lißner S., Huber S., Springer T., [2021] Technische Universität Dresden, Chair of Computer Networks and Chair of Transport Ecology.
The network base on which the data is projected comes from Open Street Maps.
This data set contains only the traffic volumes for the city of Hamburg.
The Germany-wide data (cycling volumes, speeds and heat maps) are available via the mCloud (see references).
The data were prepared for Hamburg in particular for the presentation in the urban geoportals. The data above all serve a qualitative assessment of which roads are used by bicycle traffic and whether there are changes/shifts over the years, e.g. because cycling facilities have been renovated or newly built.
The absolute figures, on the other hand, are not meaningful, since they depend largely on the number of participants in the action Stadtradeln and have accordingly increased significantly over the years.
It should also be noted that the participants in the action Stadtradeln and thus also the routes used are not necessarily representative of the total population and cycling throughout the city.
