Dataset description

Due to its geology, tectonics and raw materials, the Ibbenbüren Carbon-Scholle is one of the classic “square miles of geology”. In addition to the geological-tectonic phenomenon of a narrow carbon/Zechstone deposit amid Mesozoic rocks, the variety of different raw materials is remarkable. High-quality carbonate sand and claystones with stored anthracite coal as well as limestones, iron stones and metallic ores of the Zechstone such as zinc aperture, pyrite, markasite, copper gravel and lead shine can be found in the narrowest space.
