The stone cancer populations recorded in the Hohenlohekreis district were examined in detail here (in 2015) on behalf of the Stuttgart Government Council (Unit 56, Nature Conservation and Landscape Care) in the Hohenlohekreis. The primary goal was to delineate the known populations, i.e. to locate as accurately as possible the flowing waterways populated by stone crayfish in order to formulate initial protective measures. The precise location of possible sites for migration barriers, structurally upgraded stream sections and immission sources were also necessary to specify measures. In the Hohenlohekreis (currently November 2015) 23 isolated stone cancer populations are registered. Two other small and isolated remaining stocks in the upper reaches of the Ette river basin are completely located in the district of Schwäbisch Hall (SHA), but are still being processed here.
