Merging the DGM1 foaming data (from Geobasis NRW) in the district of Mettmann into a grid mosaic. A rubble is the plastic reproduction of the terrain shapes in a grayscale image. The spatial impression is created by lighting with an imaginary light source. The DGM1 foam is the visualisation of the Digital Terrain Model 1 (DGM1). In DGM1, the imaginary light source is located in the northwest. An elevation appears bright on the northwest slope and dark on the southeast slope. Layers are colored with medium brightness. This expresses how strongly the surface of the light source is facing. By means of DGM1 foam, the natural terrain shape can be represented very plastically. The digital terrain model describes the natural terrain shape of the earth’s surface through georeferenced elevation points. Objects such as vegetation and buildings are not displayed. The elevation points are regularly arranged grid points with a certain lattice width or irregularly distributed measuring points (measuring point clouds). The number in the designation DGM1 indicates the grid width of 1 m.
