The terrain model with a ground resolution of 0.4 x 0.4 m was derived from the data of the laser scan fly in spring 2015. More specifically: the terrain model is an interpolation of laser beams that have not been reflected by vegetation (leaves, branches, trunks), but from the ground.
The terrain model represents the terrain surface as if the vegetation layer was not present. In the calculation with the tree top height model, which is also derived from laser scan data, it is possible to derive tree heights for each individual tree. This is an extremely valuable information for the assessment of forest dynamics compared to several time intersections.
Thanks to its high soil resolution, terrain structures that are not or hardly recognizable in the vegetation-covered terrain, e.g. former paths, drainage trenches, Köhlerplatz, foundation walls, etc.
