Flood hazard maps

According to the Croatian Water Act, they are required to draw up flood hazard maps for river basins. Flood hazard maps (lands) show the possibility of developing certain flood scenarios. The following flood scenarios were analysed: high probability floods, medium probability floods (reversible 100 years) and low probability floods including artificial floods due to possible demolition of embankments on larger watercourses and the demolition of high dams. Single flood lines for individual scenarios are defined as the anvelop flood lines of different flooding sources (river, torrent and sea flooding). The depths of water for unique flood lines are determined using the digital terrain model of the State Geodetic Administration. Topographic bases of the State Geodetic Administration, hydrometeorological substrates of the State Hydrometeorological Institute and mareographic substrates of the Croatian Hydrographic Institute were also used for the preparation of flood hazard maps. Position data are provided in the Croatian Terestic Reference System 1996 Transvers Merkator projections (HTRS96/TM).
