Flooding areas (ÜSG) are areas that are flooded in the event of floods of above-ground waters. The determination of the ÜSG is carried out on the basis of different criteria (Water Act § 65).
Defined flood zones shall be considered without further determination being required:
— Areas between surface waters and dams or high banks,
— Areas where a flood event is expected statistically once in 100 years, and
— Areas claimed on the basis of a plan finding or approval for flood relief or retention.
Furthermore, OTCs may be defined by statutory regulation.
The use in the ÜSG is restricted by water law provisions (Water Budget Act § 78 and § 78 a+c). Further information can be obtained from the Lower Water Authorities in the city and districts.
