Dataset description

Biodiversity often benefits from natural forest management. However, certain species in managed forests can become rare. Therefore, in some of the forests it makes sense to keep the wood growing there fully in the natural cycle on site. In 2009, it was decided to leave 25,000 hectares of the forest in Thuringia to natural forest development in order to promote biodiversity and ensure the networking of biotopes.
