Sie geben Einblicke in die Entwicklungsgeschichte unseres Planeten und sind Archive der Erdgeschichte. In der Broschüre werden 25 ausgewählte Geotope in Nordrhein-Westfalen beschrieben, die die Vielfältigkeit des geologischen Untergrundes demonstrieren und die Prozesse der erdgeschichtlichen Entwicklung veranschaulichen.
