The analog chartwork with the groundwater equivalents 1:50,000 from April 1988, represents the highest water level hitherto almost nationwide and thus serves as a reference state for various projects in which knowledge of groundwater highs or the resulting groundwater flux levels is important. These maps have been digitised and summarised in the State Environment Agency. The company Hydrotec carried out a re-interpolation of the groundwater levels from 1988 on behalf of LANUV 2008 on the basis of water level data. Interpolation included the water network and other data. A detailed description of the methodology can be found in the report “Digital Spacing Map NRW April 1988” by Hydrotec (2009).
