On the basis of the use-differentiated soil overview map in scale 1:250,000, the mean groundwater level is mapped in 7 stages. Groundwater levels below 2 m are not differentiated.
The groundwater level is not equal to the hydrogeological groundwater level. The groundwater level is also described in binding hard-water permeable soils. Groundwater in the sense of soil science occurs almost year-round in soils, but is usually subject to seasonal fluctuations. Reservoirs with no water saturation during the year are not considered here.
The usage differentiation is based on Corine-Land Cover (CLC5_2018). The land use classes listed there were aggregated into 5 classes (Arable, grassland, forest, wasteland and settlement/transport).
