Group layer air temperature — medium temperature 1951-1980, 1961-1990, 1971-2000, 1981-2010

The group layers for the mean air temperature in °C are available for the periods 1961-1990, 1971-2000 and 1981-2010, for the period 1951-1980 the average air temperature is available for the year. All other group layers contain 17 card layers each: Average daily temperatures as averages for the months: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December; average daily temperatures as averages for: spring (March, April, May), summer (June, July, August), autumn (September, October, November), winter (December, January, February); and average daily temperatures as averages for the whole year (January-December). The air temperature is the temperature of the air layer of the atmosphere, which is essentially heated by heat release of the earth’s surface, at 2 m above the ground. The spatial distribution pattern of the air temperature reflects the relief. The area maps are calculated in monthly or annual resolution based on data from the German Weather Service (DWD). The DWD interpolates the station data on a grid of 1 km × 1 km taking into account the terrain topography, resulting in area maps for NRW.
