In the climate analysis NRW, the climatic situation is comprehensively recorded in NRW, as well as the (thermally) polluted settlement areas (=active spaces) are identified and demarcated and evaluated from corresponding compensatory areas. The climate analysis was carried out in accordance with the VDI directive 3787, sheet 1. The map shows the assessment of the thermal stress of the settlement area as well as the green and open areas based on the Physiological Equivalent Temperature (PET) for a summery weather at 3 pm in the afternoon. As meteorological input data, a typical summer day for NRW (e.g. with a temperature of 20 °C at 9 p.m.) was assumed, as well as the land use, the level of sealing and the development. The PET is a thermal index that summarises various factors influencing the thermal sensation. The map was created by a simulation with the model FITNAH in 100 m × 100 m grid and transferred to ATKIS building blocks.
