Guest birds — valuable areas 2018

The digital overview map gives an overview of avifaunistically valuable areas for guest birds in Lower Saxony. Avifauna is the totality of all bird species found in a region. The avifaunistic data available to the Specialised Agency for Nature Conservation are assessed in terms of area. This assessment is carried out separately for breeding and host birds according to standardised evaluation methods (grading levels from “local” to “international importance”, see the information service Nature Conservation of Lower Saxony 2/2013). The results of the water and wading bird counts from the period 2008-2018 are based on the results. All available data from 2008-2018 were assessed. Data from a five-year period (depending on the data situation and level of processing) were used to assess a site. The regular collection and evaluation of data on host birds is carried out exclusively on the areas shown.
