The investigation area is located in an area that has been and will be demonstrably influenced by the existing industry. Especially in the past heavy metals reached the upper soils via the air path. Since these substances do not degrade, there are still higher levels — especially of arsenic and copper — to be found today.
From 2001 onwards, on the basis of the Federal Soil Protection Act (BBodSchG), it began to collect and merge all existing soil data in the south-east of Hamburg. Only data from sampling points have been evaluated to ensure that upper soil loads are not due to “contaminated loads, harmful soil changes, areas suspected of old loads or suspected areas”.
The published data includes the arsenic and heavy metal content contained in the 500 x 500 m grid. There can be multiple records or none at all in this grid. Empty tiles mean that there is no data.
