Dataset description

Due to its diverse mineral resources, intensive mining has been around in Baden-Württemberg since the Neolithic period, which expanded strongly to silver-bearing ores, especially in the Middle Ages. Numerous ancient mining tracks, pinges, hails, tunnels and hydraulic structures still date back to this montane Middle Ages and can be visited in the landscape or, prepared in visitor mines, in the mountain itself. There are currently 18 visitor mines in Baden-Württemberg, 15 educational trails on mining history as well as 7 predominantly mining history museums.
