Dataset description

In addition to natural earthquakes, the earthquake catalogue of the Land Earthquake also includes other seismic events, which can be summarised under the term “induced earthquakes”. These include, for example, mountain hits, i.e. earthquakes in the area of active or open pit buildings, for example in the Saarland coal district. Further induced earthquakes are related to the extraction of raw materials from drilling, i.e. oil, natural gas or geothermal heat production or the pressing of liquids or gases into the subsurface. Map shows induced earthquakes in the area 47.3°N to 50.0°N and 7.2°E to 10.75°E since 1994. https://lgrb-bw.de/erdbeben/jahresbulletins
