Dataset description
The Map Layer Natural Spatial Unit can be selected in the Web Map Service Landscape Information Collection (WMS LINFOS) and shows the location and spatial delimitation of the natural spatial units in North Rhine-Westphalia. The division of North Rhine-Westphalia into main natural spatial units primarily takes into account geomorphological, geological, hydrological and soil-related criteria in order to divide the landscape into larger uniform areas (regional spatial units with largely uniform natural features). Political borders play no role, apart from Germany’s national external borders.
