This map shows today’s display maturation distribution for the Top Namur (System: Carbon; Subsystem: Upper carbon/siles; before about 325-290 Ma) in the KW model of the central German North Sea. The grid data are available for the project area in the area of the central German North Sea (Geotectonic Atlas, Baldschuhn et al., 2001).
The maturation map is an extraction from the simulation of the dynamic KW model of the central German North Sea (link to the product page: Energy raw materials: KW model of the central German North Sea). The aim of the 3D modelling is the reconstruction of the sinking, temperature and maturation history of carbonated petroleum nut rocks, which can be used as a basis for the estimation of KW potential. The maturity data is calculated taking into account the boundary conditions (paleo-water depth, paleo-heat flow, geographical location) in the simulation according to Sweeney & Burnham (1999).
Processing:
To display in the map server, the original grid (rectangular, non-square) was transferred to a square grid. The model is simulated using the PetroMod software package (Schlumberger, version 2012.2). The input dataset for the simulation of the model with PetroMod is available via the product download. In addition, the depth and width maps are also available individually (link to the product page: Energy raw materials>KW model central German North Sea> Product download).
