The State Office for Nature, Environment and Consumer Protection NRW (LANUV NRW) operates the solar cadastre NRW in the specialist information system Energieatlas NRW. Since December 2020, the open space potentials for photovoltaics on the areas covered by the Renewable Energies Act have been published there for the whole of North Rhine-Westphalia. The solar cadastre NRW was created on the basis of nationwide, high-resolution laser scan data from the state of NRW and radiation data from the German Weather Service. Further information about the project can be found in the solar cadastre at https://www.solarkataster.nrw.de. This data set contains all areas suitable for the construction of open-plan photovoltaic systems in NRW, which are remunerated under the Renewable Energies Act (EEG). They include attributes such as the appropriate area size, the usable module area, the installable power and the potential power output to any potential area. The attributes are explained in the PDF attached to the dataset.
