Dataset description
On Friday, November 8, typhoon Haiyan (category 5 on the Saffir-Simpson scale) met in the Philippines at 4:40 am local time. With wind speeds of more than 300 km/h, the typhoon moved across the islands of Samar and Leyte in the west-northwest direction, triggering numerous storm surges that caused large-scale destruction.The map shows the situation before the event in the north of the island of Cebu. RapidEye satellite data from 20.01.2013 and 23.04.2013 serve as a map background.The road network is not fully displayed.
