The figures on the number and proportions of children and adolescents with a migration background in Hamburg are not statistical results in the sense of a survey, but estimates based on statistical calculations by the North Statistics Office. They are based on an anonymised special deduction from the population register with the reference date 31.12. of the reference year. The seafarers and inland waterway vessels only reported to their shipping company have not been confiscated, nor have they been reported at the secondary residence.
People.

The foreign population.

No or too small case numbers:
The proportions of children by age group are only reported if there are at least three children living in an area with the migrant background and a total of at least 30 persons of the age group considered.
Percentage of children in grade 1 with non-German family language
• School beginners with not @-@ German family language (non_dt_spr_kl1)
In determining the children with non-German family language in grade 1, children with a non-German first language were taken into account. This includes all children who mostly speak a language other than German at home. All children of grade 1 were included in both primary and special schools. The cases “without indication” in the indication of the first language were counted among the German-speaking children in this calculation. On the basis of nationality, it is assumed that missing information on the family language is predominantly cases with German family language. The reference value of the calculation is the place of residence of the children.

• Children single parents under 6 @-@ year-olds (alonerz_u6)

• Children single parents 10- to 15 @-@ year-olds (alonerz_u16)
• Children single parents under 18 @-@ year-olds (alonerz_u18)
When presenting the proportions of children and adolescents in single households in all children and adolescents in this age group, an anonymised special deduction from the population register was used to calculate the proportions of single parents’ children.
Social structure
• Children in pre-school language support (children_preschool_sf)
Additive language promotion in preschool age. The calculation took into account both children who are supported in preschool and those who receive additive language support in the daycare. The proportions were calculated on the basis of the population data of the 5-year-olds (report register, Statistics Office Nord) as the children are on average five years old when using pre-school language support. The values are to be understood as approximate values, since an age-precise calculation is not possible.
