Soil air capacity (KLZ soil estimation)

Soil air content (vol.%) at field capacity. Pores with equivalent diameter = 50 µm, in which the water can move following gravity. Air capacity is thus understood as the pore space, which is filled with air at field capacity. The data refer to one meter of profile strength. For soils with skeletons or solid rocks at a lower depth, the data refer to the thickness of the solum. Classification: very low < 2 vol.- % low 2 to < 5 vol.- % average 5 to < 13 % vol. high 13 to < 26 % vol. very high > = 26 < Vol.- %
