Dataset description

Natural profitability is an indicator for assessing the soil as a site for agricultural use and is assessed using the soil and grassland base number. Soil and grassland base numbers are estimated depending on the soil type, state level, origin and climate. In particular, the soil type influences many yield-forming processes. For example, soils from sand can provide little water with the nutrients dissolved in it during drought, soils from clay more. Soils made of clay can store interchangeably bound nutrients better than soils from sand. Soils of the same type of soil also have the ability to store water and nutrients and provide them to crops at different levels of status (development/ageing stages). Such and other differences in location conditions, which are important for profitability, are reflected in the basic soil and grassland figures. Land and grassland base numbers are used to assess a use function of the soil in accordance with Section 2(2) of the BBodSchG, in accordance with point 3.c) of the use functions as a site for agricultural and forestry use. The criterion chosen for this purpose is the natural profitability with the characteristic value soil and grassland base number. The maps are available for the following scales: — 1: 1,000-10.000 for high-resolution or parcel-focused planning, — 1: 10.001-35,000 for community-level planning, — 1: 35.001-100,000 for planning in larger regions, — 1: 100.001-350,000 for nationally differentiated planning, — 1: 350.001-1000,000 for nationwide planning. In this presentation, the natural profitability is classified regionally. Under the heading ‘Soil assessment — natural yield capacity (BGZ), evaluated nationwide’, there is a classification of soil water exchange, which presents the natural yield capacity uniformly across the natural boundaries across the country.
