The usable field capacity (nFK) indicates the ability of a soil to store a certain amount of water in mm in plant-available form. The “Usible field capacity of the effective root space” indicates this value in relation to the effective root space (We). The NFCs are thus a characteristic value for assessing the quality of the site from the point of view of the soil water balance and an important date of entry for many other considerations. The map shows the classified values for the nFCs evaluated on the basis of the soil map of Lower Saxony 1:50,000.
