Tree Type (NLP)

Classification of the tree type Stand 2015 for all tree individuals with growth height > 15 m. The classes are spruce, fir, pine, larch, Douglasia, deciduous (unspecified) and standing dead wood. The comprehensive knowledge of the tree species of each tree individual with a height of > 15 m is much more accurate information for larger areas compared to the tree species distribution estimated by statistical methods in forestry. This higher accuracy makes it possible to derive a large number of spatial analyses in a previously unfamiliar spatial accuracy, such as habitat suitability maps for certain animal species. In combination with the forest structure and vegetation height data from the following years, this classification of tree species enables a monitoring of natural forest development based on individual trees.
